European Edition of the Tile Competition launched

The 2024 edition of the Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition, the international architecture award organised by the Italian ceramic industry and Cersaie to recognise the best architectural works carried out using Italian ceramic surfaces, is now underway.

This year’s competition is open to all design professionals who have carried out projects in Europe using Italian ceramic surfaces produced by companies licensed to use the Ceramics of Italy trademark and completed between 1 January 2020 and 29 February 2024.

Participating in the competition is easy and free of charge. Design professionals wishing to take part should register online at www.tilecompetition.com by 31 May 2024. The competition is divided into five categories: Residential, Non-Residential, Urban Design, Design and New Applications, and Students.

The international jury will examine the submitted projects based on their creativity, functionality, aesthetic appeal, sustainability and use of ceramic surfaces. The Jury is chaired by Louisa Hutton (architect and founder of the Berlin-based practice Sauerbruch Hutton) and consists of Domitilla Dardi (historian and design curator at MAXXI in Rome), Luca Molinari (architect and Professor of Architectural Theory and Design at the University of Campania), Steve Clem (architect at the Atlanta and Tampa-based practice TVS) and Emilio Mussini (Chairman of the Promotional Activities and Trade Fairs Commission of Confindustria Ceramica).

The Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition 2024 award ceremony will be held during Cersaie, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings (Bologna, 23-27 September), on the afternoon of Thursday 26 September 2024.
